Waiting and Worrying

We’ve all been there. and maybe you’re there now. We’re waiting on a test result, a doctor’s appointment, an important meeting. Your mind is filled with negative thoughts. What if it’s bad news? What if it means my life will be turned upside down? Will I be able to handle it?

Waiting gives you time to worry. Waiting gives you time to think of all the bad things that could happen. Waiting makes time slow down.

We’re reminded of somebody’s advice to a worried person. “Don’t die in the chair,” he advised. “Do something.” Waiting for a moment to come can take the life out of you. Worrying about something that may come or may never come will not produce another outcome.

Do something. Help someone. Give to another. Listen to a positive message. Get outdoors and go for a walk. Go out to lunch with a friend if you’re able. But do something. You will be much better off if you do.
