One of Those Days

Ever have "One of Those Days?' You know the type, where everything goes wrong. Or maybe, you're dealing with an illness, and despite your efforts, you feel terrible. You might try to convince yourself that you can deal with it, but it all gets to be a little much. You feel discouraged. You might be disappointed that you can't seem to handle everything. You feel guilty. You feel like retreating to a lonely place. Don't.

When you feel beaten, when you feel discouraged, when you feel that, physically, you cannot take another step, learn to rest, not quit. Remember why you're trying, remember the reasons you need to keep going. Rest is a good thing. Quitting is not. Know the difference. You are not weak mentally if you need to rest. In fact, you are smart, knowing that rest helps rather than hurts.

Mountain climbers know that most accidents occur when climbers are stressed, physically and mentally. When they lose focus, bad things happen.

As you face your mountain, be persistent, but be patient. Remember that rest is good for the body and spirit.
