That Day

You waited and waited for the time to come. You dreaded the day whenever you took a glance at the calendar. You tried your best to stay positive and say it didn’t matter in the grand scheme of things. But despite your best intentions you could not keep away the doubts and negative feelings.

Then, your worst thoughts became reality. You failed. You received a bad report. The doctor gave you news that you did not want to hear. You did not perform up to expectations.

What now? You wonder. You want to go away and be alone. Nothing anyone can say helps. You stare off into the distance with a void of feeling. Why is this happening to me you ask yourself?

In his book, Never Give Up, My Life in the Wild, Bear Grylls says, “We all face our “Everests” whether it’s an actual mountain, an injury or illness, or simply holding down a job and raising a family.” You are not an exception. Everyone has their own story, their own struggles.

“How we deal with these tough parts of our lives shows who we are,” says Victor Frankl. Who are you? Now that the real battle is here, will you run away or face it head on? Reach deep inside and decide who you want to be. This is that day.
