In her book, Radical Hope, author Kelly A. Turner, Ph.D. adds one more factor to her previous 9 key healing factors from exceptional survivors of cancer and other diseases. The tenth factor is exercise.
While most of us, at least, know some of the benefits of regular exercise, it turns out that exercise can help healing from serious diseases. She goes on to list the types of exercises and the benefits, making a compelling case.
The problem with most of us is that while we might know the benefits, we are reluctant, sometimes, to put in the work. We say work, but exercise can be a pleasant and enjoyable experience. However, for some of us facing challenges, it may be hard to move or do certain movements, especially when we don't feel up to par.
When we feel less than our best, we must discipline ourselves to do what we know might help us. Sometimes, it won't be easy. Sometimes, it will feel near impossible. Discipline will help us do the impossible.
