Dealing with Stressful Situations

I’m sure we’ve all heard tales of people getting superhuman strength in stressful situations, saving lives in the process. Ordinary people becoming heroes is not always a planned event. Things happen.

As someone once said “Great things happen when men and mountains meet."

Sometimes people just respond to events with the determination that defies belief.

How does this happen? Why can’t we call on this strength when we need it? Science tells us, when extraordinary events occur, adrenaline and cortisol are released, blood vessels are dilated, and oxygen is released to the muscles for sudden responses.

The body has this system in place to deal with emergencies. What if we had a system in place to deal with our own difficulties.?

We know that we will face challenges at some point in our lives. That shouldn't be a surprise. We also know that we shouldn't dwell on that fact either. Knowing that we have a 'system' in place should give us confidence.

What is our 'system?' A well established, deep rooted faith that can help us through the emergencies in our lives.

Let this be the day that we work to make our faith stronger for those times.
