Distract Yourself

We know that focus on the task at hand is a powerful tool. When trying to accomplish things, focus can mean the difference in winning and losing.

One exception to staying focused, though, is when you’re in pain. You don’t necessarily want to focus on the pain you’re experiencing. A great way to deal with the pain is to distract yourself.

A song, a movie, a favorite place, a conversation could provide a distraction that takes the mind away from the pain if only for a moment. Watching or thinking about something else can sometimes make a painful time a lot more tolerable. Just the presence of the right person could also help.

So, when you’re in pain remember the power of distraction. There will be time for focus later.
